While these communities have long enriched London, not just in socioeconomic terms but with their rich diversity and social inclusiveness, regrettably many sexual health services have yet to develop meaningful involvement structures with these groups whilst researchers have found it difficult to document behavioural change within the community despite community receptiveness to health messages and promotion activities.
A dance group called Bajan revellers who performed at this years carnival asked NPL and TB alert for promotion materials for distribution to participating communities.
NPL collaborating with TB Alert delivered awareness materials for TB, TBAG (TB Action Group) and sexual health.
African and African Caribbean men and women remain disproportionately affected by STI’s such as HIV, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and other infectious diseases like TB.
