Naz Vidas staff are available to provide training on aspects of HIV and AIDS in relation to cultural and religious issues. Advice and Referral Naz Vidas provides advocacy and referral for individuals who get in touch for help. We can advise on matters such as sexual health screening (including HIV), family planning, safer sex, HIV treatment and clinics. Whenever possible, people can speak to someone from their own culture in their own language. Outreach work Naz Vidas undertakes outreach work in nightclubs around London . Safe sex leaflets and post-cards as well as condoms are distributed at these venues to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and sexual health issues. Naz Vidas also undertakes outreach at community events like International Women's Day, Mardi Gras and concerts. Support Group Grupo Vidas takes place once a month. The group was created from a need to provide Portuguese speaking HIV positive people with a safe, comfortable environment to explore what it means to be living with HIV. It is also a forum for sharing and providing information, practical advice and emotional support. Sonia Rodrigues, a support group member said: "When I was first diagnosed with HIV I thought I was going to die and leave my children alone in the world. I was very depressed and didn't have anyone to talk to. I was offered counselling by the clinic, but as English is my second language, I wasn't able to understand which led to me feeling even more depressed. The health advisors in the clinic told me about Naz Vidas and asked if I wanted to contact them for some support in Portuguese. I plucked up the courage and gave them a call. Things started to change in my life since that call; I received a lot of support in my own language and started to feel stronger about myself. I joined their support group and met lots of other people going through the same experiences as me. It helped me to build my life again."
